University Park is home to a number of artificial pitches and courts, catering for rugby, football, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, shinty and ultimate frisbee.
The full size, fully floodlit, rubbercrumb pitch consists of a FIFA and World Rugby standard surface and is used as training venue throughout the year for rugby, football, ultimate frisbee and lacrosse.
The pitch is also used as a venue for regular club fixtures, including a series of evening matches under the lights.
As one of the first producers in the synthetic turf industry, GreenFields has been awarded both the World Rugby Preferred Turf Producer and FIFA Preferred Producer status, giving confidence that the artificial pitch meets global standards for rugby and football and guarantees that the surface can be used for competitions, training and community activities.
Resurfaced in 2012, the sand-dressed pitch offers a training and match venue for a number of sports, including hockey and football.
The facility is fully floodlit and benefits from video analysis cameras.
With dedicated space for spectators the pitch is home to a number of community sports programmes and weekly sports leagues.
The University’s Tennis Centre was completed in March 2018 as the final phase in the £14 million pound redevelopment of the Performance Centre.
The centre was jointly funded by the University of St Andrews, Sportscotland, Tennis Scotland, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), a private donor and the St Andrews alumni community.
4 indoor courts
A spectator balcony runs the length of the indoor facility, which also features performance analysis cameras.
Finished in US Open Blue (inner court) and Florida Green (outer court), the one-star ITF recognised indoor courts in St Andrews are constructed from Plexipave Standard, with an ITF Category 3 (medium pace) rating.
Considered by many to be the best combination of consistency-of-play, pace and foothing. Plexipave Standard is the traditional and most widely used tennis court surface system. Standard Plexipave provides a consistent and reliable medium-pace playing surface.
4 outdoor courts
The indoor facility is supplemented by four sand-dressed outdoor courts which also benefit from video analysis cameras.
